About

Before Your Exam

We accept cash & check only for payment. Please determine which class you need before your appointment. Below is a list of the classes and their uses:

Class 1: Airline Transport

Class 2: Commercial Pilot

Class 3: Student, Recreation, Private

  • Before your exam, please fill out these forms on the FAA's MedXPress website. From these forms you will be provided a confirmation number; Dr. Pouw needs this number in order to submit your application to the FAA, otherwise it cannot be processed.

  • Please drink water before your appointment, as a urine test is required. This is NOT a drug test; it simply checks for any underlying medical conditions.

  • If you require glasses or contacts, bring your most recent prescription for the eye test. You need 20/20 to pass the distance vision and 20/30 to pass the near-sighted vision test. For your very first FAA exam (if you have never been a pilot before), you will need to pass an electronic color vision test.

  • If you have a medical condition that requires a special issuance, please consult the FAA website to see what documentation they require in order for you to become certified. Your application may be denied if you do not have the proper documents prepared for your appointment. Common medical conditions that require an SI include ADHD, asthma, COPD, migraines, sleep apnea, high blood pressure.
